About Findacomposter.com

Findacomposter.com was first launched in April 2007 as a collaboration between BioCycle Magazine and the Biodegradable Products Institute. The goals of the project are:

  • To provide the public with information on composting operations in the United States and Canada
  • To give composters, haulers, and municipal programs the ability to advertise their products and services
  • To help connect commercial and residential generators of organics with the information they need to identify diversion opportunities for their material

In 2020, the front and back end of the site were completely redeveloped, and functionality is gradually being added back to align with the goals above. The relaunched site is powered by a custom database that includes the facility and collection service data the site utilized from 2007 - 2019, in addition to new data sets from BioCycle and the University of Georgia New Materials Institute. In some cases, legacy listings have been updated thanks to their inclusion in the BioCycle and UGA data.

Work on the site will be ongoing, and upcoming functionality additions will include:

  • Login ability for composters, haulers and municipalities programs to list new facilities, services, and programs
  • Ability or registered users to edit existing listings
  • Specific search functionality for residential collection services and programs
